The Crossbar Picked Up A New Line

crossbar behind the lot, fourteen lines now, eleven in august

Same crossbar behind the lot, the one under the green overhang by the side door nobody uses, I've had three photos of that bar going back to August and I keep them all in the same folder because the count only means something if you keep it together, and today there's a line in the tangle that wasn't in the August photo or the one from last month either. Not one of the old ones repositioned. A new one, thinner, darker insulation than the rest, run in from the left and knotted straight into the mess like it belongs there, like it's been there the whole time, which it has not, I checked the old files before I even got out of the car to look closer. The panel above it is still cracked the same way it's been cracked since I started paying attention, water damage, nothing, I'm not claiming the panel means anything, I'm saying I know what's supposed to be up there and what isn't.

I don't love counting wires in public where anyone walking past could ask me what I'm doing, but somebody has to keep an actual number instead of just saying "a lot" or "more than before," so: fourteen going into that bar as of today, it was eleven in August, eleven for sure because I went back and counted the photo twice that week, and now fourteen, and no truck logged on that side of the lot in between that I have on file, which means either they came when I wasn't watching or it wasn't a truck at all. My neighbor's kid got a trampoline for his birthday last weekend, the net kind with the padding, and the box sat out by the curb for four days before anyone broke it down, unrelated, I know its unrelated, I just notice things sitting where they shouldn't sit for longer than they should sit there.

The guy in the truck pages are still up if anyone wants to go compare uniforms, the white truck pages too, because this is the same kind of work, somebody servicing something that was already working fine, and nobody services a thing that's working unless the thing wasn't doing what they wanted it to do yet. Im not saying its them. Im saying eleven became fourteen and I didnt do it and the panels still cracked the same crack and Im going back out there tomorrow with the actual tape measure this time, not the phone ruler, the real one, because if somebody asks me how thick that new line is I want a number that holds up.
