The Wheel Was Never The Point
wheel, cropped from the march 20 source, center cap marking unresolved at 3x
I went back through the march folder again, the one that still has the first truck photo in it, the one that ran here back on the 20th before I even understood what I was looking at (the white truck pages explain the dates better than I will here, Im not retyping all of it), and I zoomed into the wheel. just the wheel. not the plate, not the door, the wheel, because some nights thats what the folder gives you and you dont get to pick which part it hands back.
Theres a mark stamped into the center cap. chrome on chrome so it barely reads as a mark at all, more like a shadow that stayed put through three separate crops at three separate resolutions, same shape every time, which is the only reason Im calling it a mark and not noise. could be a logo. could be a number stamped by hand before it ever left whatever shop makes these. I circled it. the file timestamp still reads 03/20/26 15:00 because I never touched that field and Im not going to, the stamp is the stamp, I just look at what it's pointing at now.
the tattoo shop corner is a different thread, the brown one that showed up there in september, I said at the time it probably wasnt related and I still dont believe myself saying it. but the hands that bolt a center cap onto a wheel are a kind of shop too. somebody did this on purpose, with tools, and I keep forgetting a wheel is a manufactured object with a paper trail same as anything else that gets installed on something that parks near my house. anyway.
four times now Ive recut this same source photo for a different detail. four. the mirror post was the whole truck, the route pages were the plate half blocked by glare, now this. my hand was shaking when I took it in march and I didnt know that until tonight, seven months later, looking at my own evidence like it belongs to somebody else. tuesday I thought I was done with this file. no, it was thursday, doesnt matter, I wasnt done.
going out to the driveway before anyones up to see if the rental parked across the street is running the same caps, same thing I keep asking about the guy in the truck, which isnt the question I started tonight with but might be the one that actually matters.
